As our East Central MN Chapter (formerly North Branch Chapter) enters our 13th season we want to thank our devoted volunteers, sponsors, in-kind donors and clients for our successful season last summer. We are looking forward to another fun, heart-warming season in 2017.
The East Central MN Chapter was established in 2005 by a group of dedicated volunteers. We have been taking seniors, veterans and disabled individuals out on our handicapped accessible pontoon for 12 years. Many of our guests are residents of nursing homes, assisted living residents, group homes and individuals from the North Branch, Cambridge, Forest Lake, Chisago City, Pine City areas and beyond.
Our original pontoon is docked at Flickabirds resort on Rush Lake in Rush City, MN. Their generosity in allowing us to keep the pontoon at the resort makes it easy access for our guest and convenient for our volunteers. It also provides a great place to grab lunch before or after a trip for those interested.
In 2016 we were able to add a second boat due to the generosity of Frankie (of Frankie’s Live Bait and Marine). This boat serves the Chisago Lakes Area. Just like our original boat this boat is available for outings Monday through Friday so serve seniors, veterans, the disabled as well as youth.
As a result of adding the second boat in the Chisago Area we changed our name to East Central MN to better reflect the area that we serve.
Let’s Go Fishing is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 corporation with over 27 chapters in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Our program is completely funded through donations and business ads (placed on the side of the pontoon) and our annual Waffle Breakfast/Silent Auction fundraiser. All of the work is done by volunteers.
We have scheduled outings Monday through Friday that depart at 9:00 am, 11:30 am and 2:00 pm. Each trip lasts approximately 2 hours. If you would like to schedule an outing outside of these hours please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Our original pontoon is docked at Flickabirds Resort ( 50155 Clover Trail,) on the South end of East Rush Lake) in Rush City, MN. We depart from a handicap accessible dock at Flickabirds for all of our trips. This pontoon can accommodate up to 8 guests, 2 of which can be in wheelchairs.
Our second boat operates out of the Chisago Lakes Area and generally uses either Green Lake or Chisago Lakes. This boat can also accommodate 8 guests 2 of which can be in wheelchairs.
If you would like to join us on an outing you may either sign up as a group or as an individual. Whether you are interested in fishing or just want to spend a couple of hours on the lake we would love to have you join us.
We provide everything you need, life jackets, fishing rods and reels, bait, water and cookies and hopefully a great time for all.
